The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) awarded a grant to Copperas Cove to improve mathematics achievement of military-connected students. Strategies included in-class integration of Computer Science and coding instructional strategies; and extra-curricular opportunities to increase students’ computational, mathematical, and problem solving skills. Additionally, computer coding exercises were led by cross-curricular teachers and paired with specific content skills to increase students' computational thinking, synthesis of mathematical concepts, and higher academic aptitude. In-class technology resources support Computer Science and coding integration with embedded professional development and campus-based Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) coaching. SEG assesses project fidelity, conducts formative evaluation to support continuous program improvement, and evaluates project outcomes. Methods include interviews with project staff and teachers, staff implementation logs, training feedback forms, and analyses of student achievement data.
